Atakent Borsa İstanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School

(ABIVTA High-school)

About Us:

As a public institution, Atakent Borsa İstanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which operates under the Ministry of National Education, started education in 2010. The institution continues its education and training services with 700 students, 6 administrators and 50 teachers. We provide vocational training in four different fields, namely Graphics and Photography, Food and Beverage Services, Public Relations and Child Development Education, in line with the needs of the sector in our region. We have 22 students with various health disabilities in our school, we are trying to bring them to the same level with their peers with our devoted and diligent work in accordance with their needs and learning speed. Our school has a physical capacity of 5971m² of indoor space and 10,801m² of open space and it consists of 20 classrooms, 10 workshops, 2 science laboratories, a library, a conference hall, a practice main class, 2 mosques where men and women can worship, and various units. We care about the use of information technologies in education, so we have smart boards in all our classrooms.

The fact that all four areas where we provide vocational training have been opened in line with the needs of the sector also increases our responsibility to prepare our students for employment in line with the needs of the sector. For this reason, we implement vocational programs in cooperation with many sectors in our city. Every year, we send our senior students for internships at contracted companies 3 days a week during the entire academic year. This situation not only strengthens our relations with the sector, but also contributes to the employment of our students by the relevant enterprises when they graduate. We have course programs to support our students who want to get university education. Our students can participate in these programs if they wish. Our school guidance service also contributes to our students’ career planning.

We care that our students focus on education from the moment they enter our school. For this reason, they can be absent for a maximum of 30 days during the academic year.  We are in constant dialogue with our parents and students not to exceed this period. We encourage our students to wear school uniforms. We do not allow them to use cell phones in school. When our students enter the school, they put their cell phones in the phone lockers of their classrooms and take them when they leave. On the other hand,we are a school that gives importance to social activities; We encourage our students to participate in fairs, festivals, excursions and visit elderly care homes and poor families to support them. Every year we plan many activities. We contribute to raising the awareness of our students by participating in national and international projects. We are a school that has conducted and is carrying out a National and International Sister School and European Union project. We think that the experience and achievements of our students through these projects contribute a lot to them in designing their future lives.

Environmental Studies in Our School:

Our school has been working within the scope of the “Zero Waste Project” of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Climate Change since 2018. In our school, we separate all the wastes and recycle them. We take the textbooks given by our Ministry back from our students at the end of the academic year and recycle them. Our students make artistic works from waste materials. In our school, we have a Zero Waste Library, which was created with the efforts of our teachers and students, all made using waste materials. Within the scope of the 11,000 Blue Cap Project, pet bottle caps were collected. Waste batteries are carefully collected and sent for recycling.

Instead of buying gifts for school personnel on special occasions, we ensure that trees are planted on their behalf. Together with our students, we participate in tree planting campaigns. There are different product studies with the evaluation of the leftovers from the activities of the field teachers in our school with their students.By inviting experts in their fields to our school, we organize many seminars and conferences that will increase our students’ environmental awareness, especially water use.
